About

The Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department (BPVFD) is a vital, volunteer-run service in the village of Bemus Point, with a proud history dating back to its charter of 1920. They provide essential services, including firefighting, water and ice rescues, and emergency medical services. Like many volunteer fire departments throughout New York State, the BPVFD faces challenges in recruiting and retaining volunteers, a critical need to maintain their ability to provide the highest level of protection. The BPVFD is always seeking new members from all ages and walks of life, emphasizing that diverse life experiences strengthen their organization and that there is a place for everyone to contribute, whether as a firefighter, EMT, or in administrative or fundraising roles. They offer free training to members in various areas, such as EMT, Interior and Exterior Firefighter, Lifeguard, Fast and Cold-Water Rescue. Those interested in making a real difference in their community are encouraged to visit the fire station and speak with a member to learn how they can contribute.
