RAISING THE FLAG AT GROUND ZERO

RAISING THE FLAG AT GROUND ZERO -

On this 17th anniversary of the worst terror attack on American soil, we mourn the loss of those Americans who willingly made the ultimate sacrifice so that others could live. We celebrate those fire/rescue, police, and military individuals who put us first. For the dedication of their lives to us, today, we stand.

We stand to honor those military individuals who wield the power to fight hate in foreign lands. We stand with the law enforcement officers who face incomprehensible fear so that we don’t walk our streets in danger. We stand for our brother and sister firefighters who enter the burning structure to protect lives and property because there is no other acceptable alternative.

We honor these men and women with a promise, a promise to provide the best emergency medical care to our communities, a promise to be on the cutting edge of fire/rescue technology, a promise to have the next great tool that may save the life of a loved one, a promise to be there at your greatest time of need. This is our tribute to those that have passed before us.

Airpack & Filling Station Project COMPLETE!

On August 21, BPVFD finished our most recent large scale project by putting 20 new self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA’s) on our trucks, along with 2 rapid-intervention-team (RIT) packs, and a 5,000 PSI filling unit in our station. Our new airpacks boast longer operating time in smaller bottles, larger field of view, safer and more integrated electronics, and thermal imaging capabilities on every firefighter. We are grateful for the opportunity to make the project happen with the help of Travis Rawleigh at Churchville Fire Equipment and most importantly, the members of our community who continuously donate to our department. We thank you!

Evaluate your address markers!

Chautauqua County Residents: Please take the time to evaluate and re-evaluate the visibility of your home address markers. When your numerics are not clearly visible from the street, fire/rescue efforts are almost guaranteed to be significantly delayed. Whether it is presented on the structure, mailbox, or simply an indicator at the street, there are multiple ways to effectively help us help YOU! Feel free to reach out to your local fire department for help with proper identification.

Lenhart Drill - Seven Fire Departments Respond To Bemus Point

On May 19, 25 members of BPVFD trained with 50 members of 7 other departments throughout the day on a evolution we call the Lenhart Drill. The event simulated a working fire on the third and fourth floors of the structure with 20 civilian victims entrapped across the hotel’s 53 rooms. Three dry fire hydrants plumbed by the lake were used to operate 6 of the 18 pieces of fire apparatus on scene to aggressively advance fire hoses to the necessary places and extricate the trapped civilians. We would like to thank the 20 civilians who offered their time to help us continue to train!

Recruit NY - Extrication Drill

On Saturday April 28, BPVFD opened its doors as part of #RecruitNY, encouraging the public to come and see our equipment and meet our members. The department performed a mock vehicle extrication involving the complete demolition of a minivan. Members demonstrated techniques of both removing a patient from a vehicle and removing a vehicle from a patient. Your membership and involvement in the fire service is an application away!
